In today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, diversity and inclusivity are no longer mere buzzwords but essential elements for innovation and progress. Understanding the importance of empowering women in technology, Rahza Technology Limited proudly organized and presented “Women Design it!”—a transformative initiative hosted in Nile University Abuja. This five-day program took place from October 16th to 20th, 2023, and it set out to revolutionize the tech industry by equipping and inspiring women in the IT domain.

Empowering Women in Tech

“Design by Women!” is more than just a program; it’s a movement that underscores the importance of enabling women to thrive in the technological realm. Launched in 2019, we’ve equipped about 200 women with the necessary digital design skills. Rahza Technology Limited spearheads this initiative as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, with the goal of narrowing the gender disparity in IT. We offer women vital training, mentorship, and opportunities, showcasing their dedication to diversity and equal representation.

A Five-Day Journey to Success

Women Design it! Cohort 5 was a five-day immersive experience that offered a diverse range of IT-related skills. The event brought together a multitude of mentors who were experts in various IT domains, including web design, UI/UX, graphic design, and more. Participants could expect the following key components:

  1. Technical Skill Development: The program focused on equipping women with practical skills that were in high demand in the tech industry. This included web design, where participants learned how to create engaging and responsive websites, and UI/UX design, which was essential for crafting user-friendly and visually appealing interfaces.
  2. Graphic Design: Graphic design was a powerful communication tool in the digital age. Participants delved into the world of visual storytelling, learning how to create compelling graphics that conveyed messages effectively.
  3. Mentorship: The heart of “Women Design It!” lay in mentorship. Experienced professionals in various IT fields guided and inspired participants throughout the program. They provided invaluable insights, career advice, and a supportive network to help women thrive in the tech industry.
  4. Collaborative Environment: The program fostered a collaborative and supportive environment where participants could learn from one another. It was an opportunity to build lasting connections with like-minded women who shared the same passion for technology.
  5. Hands-On Projects: Participants worked on real-world projects, applying the skills they had learned and gaining practical experience. This hands-on approach ensured that they were well-prepared to tackle real industry challenges.

The Future of Tech is Inclusive

“Women Design It!” was more than just a training program; it was a symbol of change and progress in the tech industry. By empowering women and fostering a more diverse workforce, this initiative was reshaping the future of IT. It sent a powerful message to the world that the tech field was open to all, regardless of gender.

Rahza Technology Limited and Nile University Abuja had joined hands to create a platform where women could not only gain technical skills but also find their place in a male-dominated industry.
